Deploying High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM)

This course offers fresh perspective on educational curriculum and its implementation. Lessons explore the concepts that surround the current national conversations on investing in better materials for school systems and the research that details what makes high quality instructional materials so effective. Lessons will focus on understanding the components that make a curriculum “high-quality” and help participants realize how true HQIM are different from typical, teacher-made materials that are too often used in school districts today. The course also offers two learning tracks: one focused on math and one focused on reading. The lessons also show educators how to implement HQIM to increase teacher preparedness to improve instruction and increase equity and student achievement for all students.

Deploying High-Quality Instructional Materials consists of 3 six-hour Units:

• Unit 1: Introduction to HQIM
• Unit 2a: HQIM for Math
• Unit 2b: HQIM for Reading
• Unit 3: Implementing your HQIM
